Camping Ministry

 

Day Camp is a week long camp whose purpose is to introduce the love of God in Christ to the children of our community.  This free camp is conducted at our church during the daytime and is held in June for children going into the 3rd through the 5th grades. A staff of volunteers refers children to the camp, provides leadership and supervision, offers scholarships to underwrite the cost, provides transportation to and from the camp, donates and prepares food, and prays daily for the children.

 

A Day Camp follow-up program runs during the school year and is called After School Kids (ASK).  It meets on Wednesdays from 3:15-5pm at the church. 

 

 

 

Kid's Camp is usually held the second week of July at the Lakeview United Methodist Campground near Lakeview, Michigan.  Children attending our church who are going into the 2nd through 5th grades are invited to attend. The camp is held from Sunday evening until Thursday evening. The camp is staffed and run by adults from the Lakewood United Methodist Church under the direction of assistant pastor John Waite. Pre-camp registration is required. 2010 will be our church's fifteenth year in running the Kid's Camp ministry.

 

 

 

Junior High Camp is held for those entering 6th through 8th grades. This is a weekend camp usually held the second weekend in September. It begins on Friday evening and concludes Sunday afternoon. This is a fun-filled busy weekend and has been a favorite of many youth over the years. The location varies from private residences to campgrounds and retreat settings.

 

 

 

Family Camp is a time when families young and old bring their campers and tents to Lakeview United Methodist Campground near Lakeview, Michigan. Family Camp begins following the conclusion of Kid's Camp on Thursday the second week of July and lasts through the following Sunday. Lakeview is located on beautiful Townline Lake east of Lakeview, Michigan and offers water fun and swimming, games, good food and great friendship.
